Item Description
10-5/8x15.75" artboard has pencil original art by Gene Colan that has been inked by Dick Giordano. Art is for page 11 of "Strange Tales" #173, published by Marvel Comics April 1974. Page features five panels, showing Black Talon's alter ego Desmond Drew in his study, where voodoo drums and eerie smoke announce the arrival of Brother Voodoo in third panel. Drew quickly draws a pistol on Brother Voodoo, who claims it is not needed. Top margin has stamped title and handwritten issue/page numbers. Back has Marvel copyright stamp. Top left/right margins have strips of tape staining and bottom center margin has aged tape w/larger piece of clear tape partially in art/text area. Lower right has continuation strip taped in place. Artboard has scattered handling wear and staining, including heavy crease across drum sound effects at Brother Voodoo's feet in third panel and scattered moisture staining across top margin (only slightly affecting art area) and lower left. VG overall but main issues are confined to margins, which could easily be matted out for the most part. Great page from the issue that features the first appearance of Black Talon/Desmond Drew as well as an early appearance of Brother Voodoo (who debuted in "Strange Tales" #169).
