Item Description
13.5x16" offset litho on thin paper. Advertising a "Free!" concert "Friday Sept. 12th" at "Pier 62" w/text at lower right detailing the planned explosion of car and stage noting "The Car Has No Brakes She Must Jump Out Of The Moving Car Before Impact With The Stage." Wrinkling and handling wear throughout. Reverse has faint tape stains in corners and a a surface paper lift at top center, not visible when viewing front. Two tiny tears at top right and a corner crease at bottom left. VG. The concert was designed to promoted the band's forthcoming album "New Hope For The Wretched" w/the cover featuring members posed around a Cadillac submerged in a pool. Nearly 10,000 crowded the streets and watched from adjacent buildings as Williams floored the car, loaded w/explosives, towards the stage leaping out seconds before impact, triggering a mass of destruction, and hurdling into the Hudson River. Already known for their wild live shows featuring flaunted sexuality and chainsaw destruction of material culture items this event would go down as the band's defining moment.
