Item Description
3-5/8x5-1/8" w/blank back. First scene captioned "Van Buren's Sub Treasury Taking Away The Poor Man's Labour" and depicts a scene of the unemployed masses w/Log Cabin on large pole in background. Second scene has "Van Buren" in Presidential chair as "Buchanan" demands reduction in labor coat and "Tappan" argues for a rise in the price of wheat captioned "Ten Cent Jimmy,' Offering His Plan To Van Buren At A Cabinet Meeting In Washington." Figure at bottom right w/back to Van Buren speaks "I Shall Vote For Old Tip." Moderate handling including light wrinkling and corner rounding. Fine. A charming and rare 1840 campaign palm card.
