Item Description
1.75" w/Bastian Bros. back paper. Roosevelt pushed the New York GOP to nominate Hughes to face off against newspaper mogul William Randolph Hearst in the 1906 NY gubernatorial campaign. After a vigorous campaign Hughes defeated Hearst by less than 3 points. Scattered trapped specs in background under magnification. Otherwise moderate wear in reflected light. Exc. An impressive artifact of this historic election that is only the third we've seen in our 53 years. John Pendergrass Collection.
