Item Description
First of four pieces is 1.25" real photo button of "Court House/Flemington, N.J." with 1900-1910 era W&H paper. A blue ribbon once hung below, we guess issued for dedication day. Second is 6.25x8.25" matte finish, of the era, photo with typed margin text "Court House/Flemington, N.J./Lindbergh Hauptman Trial". Blank back. Third is another 1.25" real photo with Sommer Badge, Newark back paper. This reads "Armistice Day Celebration/Nov 9, 1935 Flemington, N.J." Last is 3.5 x 5.5" envelope (sealed but neatly cut open on right edge, no contents)  showing photo of courthouse captioned "Scene of the Famous Lindbergh Kidnapping Trial". Postmark is Fleminton, N.J.  Feb. 11, 1935, 9:30AM". Printed in blue is oval line with text "Kidnappers Ladder"  to highlight image of a home made ladder with attention being drawn to the middle rung which has a mark, like a crack, on it. Two days after this was mailed, on Feb.13, 1935 Bruno Hauptmann was convicted of murder and sentenced to death. After two Supreme Court appeals failed, he was executed April 3, 1936. VF to Exc.
