Item Description
At the back of DeWitt are his listings of "Noncontemporary Political Medalets". This is a thick 1" brass medal with "Webster" and image on obverse with reverse text "Daniel Webster The Able Defender of the Constitution". DeWitt states John Bolen of Massachusetts made the dies in 1867 and sold them to J. W. Kline of Philadelphia in 1872. DeWitt attributes to his source "Johnson", that Bolen struck two in silver, 14 in copper and 14 in brass. "Bolen" appears below the bust. Slight smoothing of details. Fine and Rare.
