Item Description
10x19.5x2" deep cardboard box w/illustrated lid contains complete parts for Transogram game. ©1960, the first of two versions issued that year. Choice color lid design includes word "MAD" three times in the title in addition to title word "The" that was changed to word "A" in second version in addition to elimination of one of the three "MAD" words in second version's title. Character bearing strong resemblance to "Mad" magazine's Alfred E. Neuman appears on box lid and game parts. Box lid has some small spots of surface paper lifting at upper right corner from removal of price sticker (aged strip of tape in this area). Lower right corner split w/2-3/8" edge split at this area. Box is VG/Fine overall but upgrading a lid is much easier than finding an example w/unused parts like that offered here. Complete w/Transogram inspection slip, cardboard insert and factory-sealed well that contains instructions (also titled for the first version game), separate spinner, plastic die, dice cup, player pieces, cards and game money. Insert has loose perforations to game cards, which remain intact. All remains unused and Mint as packaged. 19x19" gameboard features illustrated label on exterior and zany game route. Board's paper label has the typical rippling seen w/this game and tiny wear to margin edges, but is o/w VF/Exc. Old store stock and scarce in this unused condition.
