Item Description
8x10" official NASA litho print features portrait of Alan Shepard (1923-1998), one of the original seven Mercury astronauts, holding rocket model. Photo has been signed in black ink and was personalized. Shepard's name is printed at bottom margin and back bears NASA logo and brief biography which includes mention of Mercury 7. Top right has paperclip mark and right margin has some minor wear from storage in three-ring binder w/some lt. corner tip wear. VF. 8.5x11" glossy photo showing the launch of the Friendship 7, from the Mercury-Atlas 6 mission that took place Feb. 20, 1962. Photo has been signed by John Glenn (1921-2016), who piloted Friendship 7, as well as fellow Mercury astronauts Scott Carpenter (1925-2013), Wally Schirra (1923-2007) and Gordon Cooper (1927-2004). All have signed in black felt tip pen, Cooper's signature aging slightly. Exc. These two photos feature signatures from five of the seven Mercury astronauts, the first group of American astronauts selected in 1959. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA/COA.
