Item Description
4.5" long including chain. 5/8" & 7/8" real photo portrait buttons set in 7/8" and 1.25" frames made of polished Anthracite connected by thin brass wire loops. A few tiny nicks to coal frame around TR between 9 and 10 o'clock. Otherwise only light wear. VF. Scarce. The Coal Strike of 1902 was the first instance of the US federal government acting as a neutral party arbitrating an end to a strike. Roosevelt wanted a 'Square Deal' for miners and mine owners and w/the success of the mediation he carried the slogan forward to the 1904 campaign.
