Item Description
Three sets, all issued in the 1930s. Card sizes vary but all about 2.5x3.5". Two sets are in color, one is bw. Number of cards per set varies from 12 to 25, but all are complete. Great art throughout. Text backs. Overall condition ranges from VG to EX/NM. All are rare foreign issues and the only full sets we have seen in our 53 years. Rare foreign card issues, first of any we've offered in our 53 years. An instant collection.
Card set breakdown as follows -
Complete set of 25, each 2.75x4" issues by "Torner" of Barcelona, Spain. Color fronts, one is title card while others feature six-panel comic strips. Text on backs describe front images and also notes 25 cards in the set and includes company info and "Chocolate Sultana" product name. Strip art shows Felix in humorous settings, getting into mischief and causing havoc. Art is signed "Tinez." Card #1 has scattered surface paper loss, mostly to margins. Good. The rest have moderate margin wear/aging but relatively free of creases. VG to EX.
Complete set of 12, each 2x3.25". Cards are marked "Barcelona." Set title translates roughly as "Adventures Of The Cat." First card is the title card and art is signed "Riox." The other cards each have two different scenes on fronts, story text backs. Story involves comical adventure where Felix goes from painting a fence to painting animals and other hijinks ensue. Scattered aging and margin wear. Overall VG-EX to EX.
Complete set of 20 numbered cards, each 2.5x3.5". Series A and title translates as "Felix The Cat Adventures." Choice art fronts, story text backs. Felix has an adventurous day that has him performing magic tricks and going fishing before falling asleep under the moonlight. Lt. aging. EX to EX/NM.
