Item Description
Lot of four double-sided, die-cut cardboard signs w/grommets at top for hanging display at Shell gas stations. Signs measure between 23" and 23.5" tall and feature same design on both sides. 1934. Characters include "Toonerville Folks" characters The Skipper and Powerful Katrinka as well as Mutt and Jeff from the famous comic strip of the same name. Each sign features facsimile signature of creators Fontaine Fox and Bud Fisher. Each holds "sign" w/promotional text for Shell products. Scattered corner tip/edge wear w/some scattered minor age spotting and dust soiling. Katrinka sign has more moderate edge wear on one side and is Fine while Skipper has slightly less wear and is Fine/VF. Mutt is VF. Jeff has some creases to hat brim and is Fine/VF. All in this series are rare, obtaining four at once presents an even rarer opportunity.
