Item Description
6.5" w/ wood grain cardboard reverse  and  black fabric ribbon (almost in two pieces, but 1/8" still intact)   for hanging.  This wall plaque button w/ 26 photos was made sometime between the elections of Taft in 1908 ( the last president shown on this) and Wilson in 1912 (the last button made in the set of 27  individual 1" buttons distributed by this Minneapolis based furniture and carpet store). Other than the names of the presidents, there is no text on this piece and no maker's name. The original owner, not a McKinley fan, cut out a "V" shaped celluloid piece 1.25" tall removing the McKinley image down to the base paper. Also, a  3" vertical surface scratch w/1" just visible next to Jefferson, a 1/16" speck of tan matter trapped under the cello over GW's hair and a hairline cut on the right side of TR's photo w/small bit of old cellophane tape residue in reflected light. Just VG. Gold accented patriotic motifs around GW are striking, surface retains its gloss and this is the only example known to us. It's also the only known example of an early presidential button set w/ the images compiled into a single celluloid display.
