Item Description
Lot consists of parts from Lionel set No. 1536, 1930s. Train consists of 7" long wind-up painted metal engine, 4" long coal car w/attached painted composition Mickey Mouse figure (who holds painted tin shovel) and three different 6" long tin litho train cars. The engine's wind-up action works well - back wheels w/attached side rails revolve w/rod movement and bell rings. This is engine variety w/light on front, however, a special battery is required for operation, which is no longer produced. As such, we cannot test the light, but small light bulb is still present. Engine comes w/replacement key. Engine shows scattered paint wear w/more moderate wear along edges, which shows some bare metal. VG/Fine. Coal car's composition Mickey figure is jointed at waist and is designed to move up and down as if shoveling as the train travels around the track. Back is marked "Mickey Mouse Stoker." Tin car shows scattered paint wear on edges and where Mickey's shovel rests and along edges. A few small paint flakes off Mickey's ears. Fine/VF. The three train cars each have a different title and these are "Mickey Mouse Circus, Mickey Mouse Band, Circus Dining Car." All have scattered tiny traces of paint wear and some small bends to ornate top corners, but o/w remain clean and feature great images. Cars are Fine/VF overall. Set includes 5" tall painted composition figure of Mickey as a circus barker. This shows moderate scattered wear w/small paint flakes. Fine. Set comes w/die-cut cardboard accessory pieces that include large circus tent w/"walls" featuring wonderful graphics of various Disney characters in circus parade. Two wall sections are missing five of eight flags, center opening area top section is missing raised area w/"Entrance" text and image of Mickey pointing. "Wall" sections shows moderate aging/wear along w/missing portions mentioned. One panel has completely separated along elephant parade. Some surface paper lifts on bare cardboard back from tape removal. Good/VG. Circus tent top back section has separated and is missing one 1.5x3" tab designed to fold under and another tab used to secure edges of tent top. Moderate aging/wear/dust soiling. VG. Two unpunched sections include complete parts for Sunoco building (walls, roof and pump area, Sunoco billboard), "Mickey Mouse Circus" barrel truck and three (of 10) tickets. Unused and Exc. Along with the seven tickets that are missing, an additional three pieces are missing - tent top flag piece and the piece w/Disney characters as performers that hung inside the tent as well as the "To The Circus " stand-up w/image of Mickey pulling Minnie Mouse along. Set is also missing the 10 pieces of track (eight curved, two straight), which are easily replaced if desired. A true classic for both collectors of Disneyana and train sets.
