Item Description
Original illustrated cardboard box contains 3.75" long tin litho toy w/built-in key. c. 1940s as box features war graphics (a later 1950s version featured Superman graphics) w/"Superman Turnover Tank" name printed on end flaps. This toy was produced in a variety of colors, this is mostly silver luster w/blue top. Tank was also produced in gold luster and green w/Army star on top (see item #1569). Box is complete w/all flaps but shows obvious wear w/tears, creases and .75" and 1" tears to end flaps and 1-1/8" tear to inner flap. VG. Superman figure is in correct colors. Front side of figure has thin paint flakes to top of biceps while back side has 1/8" flakes off top of head and wear at feet and raised portion of cape. Blue top has some scattered restoration which blends nicely. Rest of tank shows some lt. wear and is Fine overall. Works well. Scarce w/box. Dan Makara Collection.
