Item Description
Reece "Goose" Tatum (1921-1967) was a Negro League baseball and basketball player. In 1942, he was signed to the Harlem Globetrotters and had an 11-year career w/the team. He later formed his own team known as the Harlem Magicians w/former Globetrotters player Marques Haynes. He is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball HOF. Offered here are two buttons, 2" dia. cello ribbon badge features photo of Tatum along w/his name and "Harlem Globetrotters" w/"Vs. College All Americans - April 6" satin ribbon. Back of ribbon has inked "1948 date. Button has some spots of staining at rim edge between 4 and 9 o'clock areas. Ribbon text shows some scattered wear. VG overall. Rare, especially w/single game day ribbon. 1.75" dia. cello button features 1950s Harlem Globetrotters mascot. Surface oxidation on back and moderate aging to front, including some scattered age spotting. VG.
