Item Description
19-1/8x23.5" artboard has pen and ink original art by "Joe Palooka" creator Ham Fisher (1900-1955). Art was for Feb. 23, 1941 and page features topper panel (w/title/illustration stat paste-over and original art of Sergeant eating can of "Finest Nails) and 12 panels, showing Joe Palooka giving boxing lessons to tough US Army Sergeant, frightening him so much that he's much nicer to his troops the following day. Joe appears in every panel, most featuring him throwing punches. Bottom two rows are on separate artboard that has been taped to top section w/cloth tape on back. Some aging along this section and artboards have moderate margin aging. 2.5" spot of moisture staining at top right, slightly affecting Sergeant image. Upper left and bottom right margins have blue penciling coloring notes Back of artboard has some penciling and four dealer inkstamps. Scattered staining and heavy dust soiling, but this does not affect front's display, which remains Fine overall. Great World War II era camp content.
