Item Description
6x9". Flyers for events over the final two days of the Selma to Montgomery March. First advertises a "Gigantic Pre-March Freedom Rally" in ""City Of St. Jude" w/line up including Sammy Davis Jr., Mahalia Jackson, Dick Gregory, Harry Belafonte, Nina Simone and more. Second reads "Freedom Now Join The March On Montgomery Thursday March 25 1965 Rally At 7:30AM M.I.A. Office 716 Dorsey Street" this event was in conjunction with marchers arriving from Selma culminating in a March to the Alabama Capitol. Both are printed on fragile newsprint and have moderate edge wear including small tears and minor losses. Fine. Rare and historic artifacts of the successful third march concluding w/Martin Luther King delivering his "How Long? Not Long" speech on the steps of the Alabama State Capitol.
