Item Description
Each 1.25" the first no maker and fixed horizontal bar pin c. 1905 and the second by Parisian, Chicago 1934. "See The Collision" refers to short-lived spectator events, usually at county fairs, wherein the promoter would buy two past their prime locomotives and then find two engineers willing to speed toward each other, on the same track, at 40mph jumping from the cabs at the last split second before impact created a blizzard of shrapnel. See page 83 of Button Power for the full story. Thirty years later, the second button in beautiful blue/silver art deco styling, shows the Zephyr, America's first diesel powered streamlined train, which set a dawn to dusk speed record between Denver and Chicago in 1934. The Zephyr can still be seen at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry and its full story is on page 169 of Button Power. Both buttons are scarce and Exc. Comes with Hake's COA.
