Item Description
This "100% Democracy" series was issued by a Reading, PA bakery in 1942. Others in the series are: Bill Boyd (Hopalong Cassidy), Gene Autry, Bill Elliott and Charles Starrett. As best as we can recall, and based on past auctions, it appears only Roy Rogers was issued in both blue/white and black/white versions. For all cowboys we've offered about ten examples and of those about three had a back paper as this b/w version of Roy does. Full back paper text is "Freihofer's/The Perfect Loaf/Copyright 1942/Jay-Gee/Enterprise/Reading, Pa." This is one of two b/w of Roy we've seen in our 54 years. Small air dot on his hat and shoulder seen only in reflected light and NM.
