Item Description
1.25" without maker and with spring pin holding ribbon looped to a fully three-dimensional miniature car with steering wheel plus smaller and larger pairs of wheels that turn on their axles. Car is white metal with much fine detailing on sides of stars, branches and leaves. Button shows similar car with driver and woman and child passengers with text around "Automobile Carnival New York Apr. 6-11-'08". This was a much heralded NYC event with the Sunday April 5 issue of The World newspaper describing "How the tenth birthday of the automobile will be celebrated here this week with a spectacular procession of nearly 5,000 machines..." and mentioning Oldsmobile and Maxwell by name.
