Item Description
1-3/8" (34mm). Brass. DeWitt GW-1789-4. Albert WI-1a. Hake #3007. Text around rim "March The Fourth 1789 Memorable Era" w/colonial eagle and star design at center. Likely dug w/minor bend at top left and wear to text "urth 17" in "Fourth 1789" but still legible w/remainder of design having distinct sharp details. Original shank is bent but remains intact. Fine. A nice example of this important design commemorating the date the newly formed government began to operate under the Constitution. Washington's Inauguration was scheduled for this day but delays postponed the celebration until April 30th.
