Item Description
Large 2.25" no maker, with spring pin holding two ribbons. Portrait image at center. Al Lopez spent 19 years as a Major League catcher for the Brooklyn Robins, Boston Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates. Following his playing days, Al would go on to a very successful career as a Major League manager for a total of 17 seasons, finishing with a career record of 1,410 -1,004 with the Cleveland Indians and Chicago White Sox. Lopez would be selected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977. Single day issue button was distributed during the 1951 season when Lopez was the manager of the minor league, Indianapolis Indians ball club. Lt. wear to ribbon, button is glossy, Exc.
