Item Description
Only example known to Hake's, 2-1/8" w/curl naming maker Philadelphia Badge Co. Additional text "Yankee Stadium/Sun. May 11th/2 Games".  The 1941 Negro National League season would prove to be another exciting campaign and opening day would take place in Yankees Stadium in NY. The New York Black Yankees were managed by Tex Burnett and would finish in fifth place during the 1941 season with a league record of 13-19. The Black Yankees were led by famed slugger, Mule Suttles and were even fortunate enough to gain the pitching services of superstar, Satchel Paige, for a few games during the season. The Philadelphia Stars were managed by future Hall of Famer, Oscar Charleston and accumulated a league record of 13-29, good for a sixth place finish. Star pitcher, Chet Brewer led the mound corps while Pat Patterson led the club with a .338 batting average that season. Trace of surface oxidation on metal back. Front is totally bright and glossy. Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
