Item Description
8.5x11" sheet of unlined paper has pen and ink original art by Walt Simonson, best known for a run on Marvel Comics' Thor from 1983 to 1987, during which he created the character Beta Ray Bill. He has also worked on other Marvel titles such as X-Factor and Fantastic Four, on DC Comics books including Detective Comics, Manhunter, Metal Men and Orion, as well as on licensed properties such as Star Wars, Alien, Battlestar Galactica and Robocop vs. Terminator. Art shows Gorgo, star of the 1961 sci-fi monster film of the same name, emerging from the water, an indistinct city skyline in the bkg. In the mid-1970s comic publisher Seaboard had writer Gabriel Levy and artist Walter Simonson produce a Gorgo vs. Rodan story for a black and white title. Art is dated 1974, which is the same time as the Seaboard series. Simonson has signed at lower right. Sheet has some scattered margin aging and scattered handling wear w/faint horizontal creases. VF overall and still nice for display.
