Item Description
1.25" with text "'Freaks' Metro-Goldwyn Mayer's Amazing Picture." Complete w/Phila. Badge backpaper. This tale of circus love and revenge casts circus side show performers and shocked movie goers of the era. The movie was buried by M-G-M for years and was credited with killing director Tod Browning's career. Button depicts "Freaks" cast member Johnny Eck, the half-man from Baltimore who has become a cult figure himself. He died in 1991 at 79 years of age. His anatomically normal twin brother died a couple of years after. This button is particularly rare as very few were distributed. This is about our fourth 40 years. Celluloid surface has small area of near microscopic rippling over first two letters of “Freaks” but very trivial and just showing slightly in reflected light. Colors are deep and unfaded. Surface has high gloss with perfect centering. Displays mint. Among the top ten rarest and most desirable movie buttons.

$1000- $1500
