Item Description
7x8" thin artboard has pen and ink original art that has been neatly hand-colored by Paul Norris (1914-2007), a comic book artist best known as co-creator of the DC Comics superhero Aquaman and for a 35-year run as artist of the newspaper comic strip Brick Bradford. He also drew issues of Gold Keys Jungle Jim comics, and art features Jungle Jim and Lille Devrille, w/hand-lettered word balloons thanking pop culture historian and sci-fi author Ronald Goulart for the reminder that Norris had also worked on the Golden Age DC hero Sandman (notably revamping the character in superhero attire and introducing sidekick Sandy the Golden Boy in 1941). Art is inscribed to Goulart at lower left, which also bears the signature of Norris. Artboard has evenly aged and has two tiny spots of staining at lower right but art is o/w clean and Exc. Dan Makara Collection.
