Item Description
The World's Greatest Superheroes was a syndicated newspaper comic strip featuring DC Comics characters which ran Sunday and daily from April 3, 1978 to Feb. 10, 1985. It was syndicated by the Chicago Tribune/New York News Syndicate. Initially starring Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Black Lightning, it underwent several title changes, as the focus changed to primarily feature Superman. Offered here is an 11x16-3/8" thin cardboard advertising sign likely used in newspaper boxes and newsstands in the late 1970s. It features a great assortment of DC characters, including Superman, Black Canary, Aquaman, Flash, Supergirl, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Hawkman, Elongated Man, Black Lightning, Robin, Batman and Wonder Woman. Art by George Tuska and Vince Colletta. Sign shows corner tip wear and has 5" area of creasing at upper left. .5" ink mark on Hawkman's wing at center. Fine overall. Rare. Dan Makara Collection.
