Item Description
27.25x40.75" poster for the original release of the 1944 Republic 15-Chapter film serial which starred Dick Purcell in the titular role of Captain America and Lionel Atwill as Dr. Cyrus Maldor/The Scarab. Poster was printed by the Morgan Litho Corp. of Cleveland, OH. This is a rare poster for Chapter 1, The Purple Death, and features nice graphics including large full body image of Captain America rescuing female lead Lorna Gray from The Scarab's laboratory as gas canisters fill the room w/poisonous gas, aka the Purple Death. Poster was originally folded and has since been linen-mounted w/professional restoration including margin touch-ups and restoration along fold line and at fold crease intersections and area in letter M in America and small spot on Captain America's head. As linen-mounted and restored, poster now displays Exc. These Republic Captain America serial posters are hard to come by, w/Chapter 1 the rarest of them all.
