Item Description
16x19.5" partially printed document. President Lincoln appoints "James S Thurston" an "Additional Paymaster" on Feb. 26, 1864. Signed in dip pen ink "Abraham Lincoln" at lower right and at center by Sec. of War "Edwin M. Stanon." Light edge wear and a few spots of faint foxing throughout mentioned for accuracy. Five horizontal and one vertical fold not affecting Lincoln signature which remains bold and legible. VF. Blue seal remains intact. An outstanding example of these desirable Civil War commissions. Comes w/Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
