Item Description
7.75" long. 1856. Woodcut portrait in American shield. Graphic above shield features a banner reading "Freedom For" held by an eagle perched on a rock labeled "Kansas," a reference to the 'Bleeding Kansas' period when abolitionists migrated to the area attempting to prevent Kansas from entering the Union as a slave state. Remnants of a small red ribbon once attached at top center. Otherwise very clean w/only light handling. VF. Scarce.
