Item Description
8.25x10.5x3.5" deep box contains large (12-14) size Green Lantern Dessart Bros., Inc. costume. ©1961 National Comics Publications, Inc. Box lid features portrait images of Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Flash, Hawkman and Green Lantern. Superman is likely not featured as Ben Cooper had the costume rights during this period. Bottom side panel of box lid features "Green Lantern" stamped name. Lid has 1.25" tears across Batman portrait and below Wonder Woman portrait at left and is missing window. Slight concave warp at bottom of box lid, but o/w box remains clean and Fine overall. Missing thin Vacuform mask. Suit has overall height of 48" and features Green Lantern name/symbol on chest. Suit has only a few tiny splits to printed area on trunks as paint application made material more stiff, but these are not overly distracting. There are o/w no other splits to fabric. Size tag loose but included. Some stray black marks around name on chest as printed, o/w Fine overall. All costumes in this Adventure Costumes series are incredibly rare as they did not sell well. These were released just as DC Comics was entering the Silver Age of comics full force and by 1966 when the Batman TV series was introduced, a new wave of DC merchandise was released, overshadowing these rare boxed costumes. A must-have for the DC collector.
