Item Description
.75x2.5x3" case. Sixteenth plate tin type is mounted in embossed paper carte de visite (CDV) w/top and bottom paper margins trimmed to fit in the brass frame housed in the floral motif case. Mount & case have moderate wear, Fine. Tintype has a trivial vertical ridge that just catches reflected light otherwise extremely clean w/superb contrast and clarity. Exc. Often referenced as the "$5.00 Bill Pose" this iconic image of the 16th President was taken by Anthony Berger at Mathew Brady's Washington, DC studio Feb. 9, 1864. Bob Westerman Collection.
