Item Description
Muhammad Ali and Henry Cooper had two boxing matches w/one another. Their first match took place June 18, 1963 (before Ali had changed his name from Cassius Clay) and  the second took place in May 1966. Ali won both matches. The first fight was stopped by the referee in the fifth round, and the second in the sixth round. Both fights were stopped after Cooper started bleeding excessively from a cut to the left eye. The first Ali-Cooper bout is remembered for being one of the four fights in which Ali was officially knocked down in the ring by his boxing opponent. Offered here is 2-7/8x4.75" thin paper ticket stub for the 1963 bout, which took place at Empire Stadium - Wembley in Wembley Park, London. Stub features photo portraits of both fighters as well as promoter Jack Solomons. Ali's "The Louisville Lip" nickname is listed and Ali is referred to as "The World's Greatest Showman And Personality." Stub is evenly aged and has scattered handling wear/creases. Fine overall.
