Item Description
Pair of approx. 9" and 11.75" tall jointed stick puppets/walking/dancing figures w/nice depictions of early comic characters Mutt and Jeff from the comic strip of the same name. Unmarked and maker is unknown, but the painted tin legs point to a small manufacturer rather than a one-off folk art piece. 1920s. Figures are painted wood w/swinging arms and articulated wooden/painted tin legs and free-moving wooden shoes. Each has a spring mounted on its back and comes w/painted wooden dowel that fits into spring. Figures show even aging and some scattered paint flaking, but remain Fine for display. Nice pair to display together.
