Item Description
Pair of 11x14" lobby cards for the original release of the 1951 film distributed by Lippert Pictures Inc. and starring George Reeves as Superman and Phyllis Coates as Lois Lane. The motion picture is the first theatrical feature film based on the DC Comics character Superman (two live-action Superman movie serials starring Kirk Alyn had already been shown in cinemas.) The film served as a trial run for the syndicated TV series Adventures Of Superman, for which it became the only two-part episode, entitled "The Unknown People." Offered here is the title card featuring Superman and Lois Lane as well as the Mole Men and lobby card No. 5, showing Mole Men emerging from underground. Title card has pin holes at corners and at top center w/scattered small margin tears and dust soiling. Back has grease pencil "Alamo" theater name and "4 Nov. 21 51" inkstamp date w/2x4" piece of brown paper tape at upper left w/inked number. Fine overall but could be matted and framed for nice display. Lobby card has pin holes at corners and upper right corner has 1" tear that has been repaired by thin strips of brown paper tape along two margins on back. Fine. David Barsalou Collection.
