9.75x19.25x1.5" deep box contains complete parts for Milton Bradley game No. 4842, ©1940 Superman Inc. This is the first and rarest of the early Superman board games. Lid features great illustration of Superman stopping oncoming airplane, side panels feature additional solo Superman images as well as inset action scenes. Original store price sticker on underside of box. Lid shows corner tip wear and side panels have a few creases but box remains tight and VF overall. Matched pair of box inserts w/classic full figure Superman image. These are lightly aged but o/w Exc. 18.5x18.5" gameboard features similar but different/more detailed images as the Superman Speed Game board. Surface paper is bright, glossy and clean. NM. Comes w/two small instruction folders, plastic die and all eight of the color matched wood playing pieces representing "Clark Kent The Reporter/Superman Cloaks." Box well has been opened, but original cellophane remains. Instructions folders show handling wear and are Fine while all else is Exc. Rare in this high grade condition. David Barsalou Collection.
