Item Description
10.5" tall hand painted wood w/felt nightshirt atop 8.25"diameter .75" thick wood base. The Kid holds a plastic cocktail glass, and his shirt reads "Here's A Health To De Ladies Dey Are All A Peech See !" Original owner of this piece once also owned a large oil painting by Richard Outcault titled "Toastmaster" showing this unique image w/the same text on his shirt. He commissioned Kaonis to make this three dimensional figure based on the painting. Modern folk artist Kaonis is known for his fantastic one-of-a-kind creations, including Disney characters and others (see Halloween pair in this auction, #478). An oval paper label on the base reads "The Toastmaster R.F. Outcault Sept. 2nd, 1897 #1 Of 1 By Keith Kaonis March 4,1993." Underside base has hand inked text including "#1 Of 1 'De Yellow Kid' By Keith Kaonis 1993." NM. Exceptional display piece.
