Item Description
10.5x15.75" comic page stock artboard has original art pencil and ink by Frank Thorne. Thorne began his comics career in 1948. He drew the Perry Mason newspaper strip, which was followed by more comic book work for Dell Comics. He turned out a multitude of stories for Tomahawk, Enemy Ace and numerous others. Well known for his Marvel artwork on Red Sonja. Zipatone used in four of the panels shows no typical age toning. Art is for page 4 of Tomahawk #123 published by Marvel Comics, July/August 1969. Five panel page has opening groundwork for the storyline "The Stallions Of Death" where Tomahawk and a group of rangers rush into a fight against Indians who have kidnapped a woman and her daughter in a raid. Top margin has handwritten issue/page numbers. Lt. handling wear. Reverse has Comics Code Authority inkstamp, some lt. soiling and clear tape and whiteout at top. Two punch holes at top and bottom and top corners torn off. Front of artboard has some scattered soiling/dust soiling at margins but art remains clean and VF overall.
