Item Description
1.5" with no maker name. Her given name was Millie Lawrence and she was known by the phrase "The Girl In Blue". She was famous for manipulating the news media through the artful use of the scandal and she has been called "The First Real Queen Of American Burlesque." She traveled across America, often at odds with local indecency ordinances. Her signature stage maneuver was to remove her garters and throw them into the audience. Upon occasion she neglected to wear underwear. While there are several buttons for her, this c. 1906 example is the only real photo we know of in this size. This is the button photographed for the book Button Power by Carter and Hake. Exc.  Comes w/Hake's COA.
