15.5x20.5x1.5" deep open display box contains target set No. 980 by H-G Toys Inc. ©1979 20th Century-Fox Film Corp. Display lid has now window as designed and cover shrink-wrapped tray that contains 12" tall Alien target and two small Alien hand and pod targets. Also included in the set is blaster weapon w/"Alien" logo sticker on side that shoots the three included safety suction darts. Target base and box lid also feature image of Nostromo spaceship. Box has text reading "Stop The Growing Alien Before It Becomes The Ultimate Terror!" Box art features of smiling children aiming gun towards target featuring ferocious and violent alien from the 1979 film. Based on the success of Star Wars and its subsequent merchandising line, companies scrambled for rights to produce merchandise for other Sci-Fi films which they felt they could market towards young children. Most companies did not know that the movie had an R rating and a heavy amount of violence, and on some pieces, such as the one we are offering, show images w/small children. Box has moisture staining at top, resulting in some rippling. Lid corners are split and show scattered wear. Shrink-wrap has 5" split at lower right and tray has warping at corners due to tightness of shrink-wrap. Box is VG/Fine. Contents are NM as packaged.
