Item Description
1.25". No maker. Spring pin holds pair of ribbons, celluloid bat and ball. The Cleveland Indians faced the Boston Red Sox in a one-game playoff for the American League pennant, prevailed, and then went on to beat the Boston Braves in the World Series (see matching button in this auction). The 1948 Cleveland Indians finished the regular season with a record of 97-58 under National Baseball Hall of Fame player/manager Lou Boudreau. The offense was led by a pair of Hall of Famers, rookie Larry Doby (OF) and Joe Gordon (2B). The pitching staff was the league's best, highlighted by the inclusion of rookies Satchel Paige and Bob Lemon along with veteran fireballer Bob Feller. Some age spots but button still glossy. Fine.
