The 1946 Boston Red Sox were one of the best American League clubs of all-time, finishing with an American League best record of 104-50 under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager Joe Cronin. Of course, the Sox were led offensively by "The Splendid Splinter", Ted Williams, possibly the greatest hitter in baseball history and a future HOF'er. Teaming up with Williams was HOF second baseman, Bobby Doerr. The Red Sox would go on to lose the 1946 World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games.
