Item Description
13.5x17.5". Action filled illustration featuring "Old Nick" (Nicodemus) in a top hat, horns, dress coat. As he plays a violin he states "O.K. I'll Lead The Van" w/"Van" under scored. Next is a donkey w/"Jackson" face stating "Matty, If You Follow Right After Me, You Can't Miss Your Way." Chained to Jackson is Martin (Maddy) Van Buren stating "Very True, General! This Day Is That Saying Of The Wiseman Fulfilled, Train Up A Child In The Way He Should Go And When He Is Old He Will Not Depart From It." Van Buren tips his hat as he carries two scrolls "Subtreasury" and "Militia Law." The "White House" is seen on the mountain top w/a sign reading "Road To Glory." Published by John Childs, New York. Trimmed margins and scattered spots of age toning. Fine. This seldom offered early political print will frame beautifully.
