Item Description
16x19.5" partially printed document. President Grant appoints "Jared Linsly Jr." a "Paymaster" on Feb. 24, 1872. Signed in black dip pen ink "U. S. Grant" at lower right and at center by Sec. of the Navy "George Robeson." Light edge wear and a few spots of faint foxing throughout mentioned for accuracy. Scattered faint age toning and small loss to blue seal that otherwise remains intact and securely affixed. Moderate handling wear most notably a vertical crease at bottom center and a crease in top right corner. Otherwise two vertical and one horizontal folds not affecting Grant signature which remains bold. VF. A striking example of these impressive and always popular documents. Comes w/Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
