Item Description
Pair of 10.75x14" Crescent Illustration boards feature pen and ink original art by Gilbert Shelton, a cartoonist and a key member of the Underground Comix movement. Shelton was the creator of the iconic Underground characters The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Fat Freddy's Cat and Wonder Wart-Hog. Art was inked by Tony Bell. This original art is for complete two-page The Adventures Of Bull O'Fuzz story published in DRAG Cartoons #40 in June 1967. Story has Bull O'Fuzz on traffic duty, only for caravan of cars to speed by. O'Fuzz gives chase on his Harley, only to discover it is a funeral procession and he lets them go. Last panel reveals the procession was a farce, as hearse contains dragster. Two "mourners" wear Wonder Wart-Hog shirts. Both artboards have page number notations at lower right. Art remains clean and Exc. Backs of second artboard has Shelton's personal inkstamp. From the Archives of Publisher Pete Millar.
