Item Description
1.75". 1960. Only minor wear in reflected light. NM  A high grade example void of the typical light brown dots of toning often present on this design. Early in Feb. of 1960 four African American college students sat at the "White Only" lunch counter at the Greensboro, NC Woolworth department store in non-violent protest. By the end of the year some 70,000 had participated in similar sit-ins and demonstrations around the country. Congress Of Racial Equality (CORE) was instrumental in leading these protests. This button was produced for the groups fundraising and ranks among the most historic of the era.
