Item Description
1.75" (also made in smaller 1.25" size). No maker but w/union back stamp. Shown in Indians uniform.  Doby began his professional baseball career w/the Newark Eagles ball club of the old Negro Leagues before joining the Cleveland Indians in 1947, becoming the first African American ballplayer in the American League following Jackie Robinson's breaking of the color barrier earlier that season. Doby would spend a total of 10 seasons w/the Indians and three years w/the Chicago White Sox. Doby led the AL in home runs twice and RBI's once, finishing w/career numbers of .283 along w/253 homers and 970 RBI's. Doby was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998.
