Item Description
1.25". Parisian Novelty Co. of Chicago. In 1930 the newspaper issued two sets of portrait buttons for the city's MLB teams, the Cubs and the White Sox. Each set is comprised of 10 different buttons. What we are offering here (and in the next eight lots) is a near set of the Cubs issue, only one not present is Gabby Hartnett. Each features portrait at center with rim text of player's name and position/role, team and newspaper names. A scarce and desirable regional issue. This button is for Les Bell who played for the team 1930-31, ending his MLB career with the team. In 1926 he won a World Series with the St. Louis Cardinals. Glossy, Exc.
