Item Description
1.5". Novelty Supply Co. Pitt. PA back paper. Spring pin holds ribbon w/attachment made of material to simulate an actual baseball, including stitching. Button has simple but striking design w/baseball at the center (see next lot for mate). The 1925 Pittsburgh Pirates dominated the National League, finishing with a regular season record of 95-58 under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager Bill McKechnie. The Pirates were owned by long-time National League executive Barney Dreyfuss, himself a Cooperstown selectee in 2008. Pittsburgh would go on to defeat the Washington Senators in the 1925 World Series. Trace of aging on ball, button is glossy, Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
