Item Description
One of few known. 3.5". No maker. Great design w/large image of New York Yankee Roger Maris, text around this. Unlike a few other "61" design buttons in which individual examples were made for both Mantle and Maris, this button is unique and without a Mantle mate. Most likely made just after Maris hit his 61st homer on the last day of the regular season. One thing is for sure, this button is rarely seen and the first example we have offered. Most silver finish is off metal back. Minor trace of aging/age spotting. Light surface wear only seen upon magnification. None of this takes away from the overall appearance which remains bright and w/high gloss. VF. Paul Muchinsky Collection (but a higher grade example than the one shown in his book).
